DIY air cleaner

The principle of the do-it-yourself air purifier for a home, which anyone can do, is the same as a commercial appliance - the polluted air passes through the appliance (filtration system or single filter) and the cleaning process takes place.

The principle of operation of a homemade air purifier

Some filters can use atypical, rare additions to cleaning - ionization of the air, processing it with infrared radiation and others. Such additions are considered unitary (highly specialized) and only partially enhance the effect of cleaning in a standard way.

DIY manufacturing options

Everyone can make a filter for air purification with their own hands It is only necessary to determine in advance the conditions in which it will work and choose the right filler for you to filter.

Do-it-yourself air cleaner for dry rooms. Dry rooms - rooms in which humidity is less than 30%. It is very important to try to increase the general level of humidity, and in no case - do not lower it. Take a small water container and fill it halfway.

Place a computer cooler or fan on one end of the container that runs at low speed. Fix the “air supply system” so that it cannot get into the water - this can lead to a short circuit in the power supply. Due to the interaction (penetration) of air with water, it is cleaned, and also there is a process of increasing humidity. You can pour hot water into containers, so that the whole room will be saturated with steam.

For wet rooms. Wet rooms (humidity level more than 60 - 75%) is better not to moisten additionally. For an air purifier, instead of water, as described above, you can use standard kitchen salt.

The properties of the salt allow it to absorb moisture and purify. So that the salt does not fly away from the air stream, it should be covered with gauze or any other material that would not have called it to break up into small grains.

With carbon filter. A do-it-yourself cleaner with a carbon filter can be made if you have enough activated carbon. Place the coal inside the container and make small holes in it (you can use a corner).

The “fan” should be placed so that it blows air out of the container, rather than blowing flow into it. Further, it is necessary to cover the container with a cloth so that the “fan” blows out only the air that can flow through small openings, where the coal is located.

Important! For greater efficiency, such a cleaner can be raised to make it easier to take in air from the bottom of the container. Coal does not affect humidity indoors.

Instructions for use

  1. The device should not work too noisy; loud noise indicates difficulties with air supply (the motor "suffocates" and starts to work at high speeds). Also, this may indicate unsuccessful mounting of the fan itself.
  2. Filler for filtering must be changed periodically; Do not forget about it! A homemade filter cannot personally remind you of this procedure! It is recommended to put a notification on your mobile phone about the date of replacement of the filter medium.
  3. Try not to leave homemade air purifiers unattended. Any electrical appliance (especially homemade) requires special vigilance and care during its operation and should not be left unattended if possible. As for home-made air purifiers, they should be supervised for the entire period of their work.
