DIY hammock chair

Furniture for relaxation brings coziness and comfort to everyday life. The hammock is incredibly comfortable and, when choosing a successful design, also looks stylish. So you want to realize your dreams and create all the conditions for a wonderful holiday in the shade on a soft hammock. Just a fabulous pleasure! Sometimes desires do not coincide with the possibilities - high-quality hammocks are expensive. And although their price is justified, it is not accessible to everyone. You can do such a miracle yourself. We will consider several manufacturing options and describe step-by-step instructions for each of them.

If you do not have enough time and resources, then this model will do just fine. WITHThe simplest option of all is textile. The process of its creation does not require special knowledge and skills. This method is perfect for everyone who wants to create a cozy place in a short time. Due to the simplicity of design and ease of execution, you can make several chairs at once and create a kind of gazebo in which it will always be pleasant to linger.

The design of such a hammock implies a suspension system on which the body and fabric intended for the seat will be held. The manufacturing process is simple and straightforward:

  1. To get started, prepare the workplace, determine the choice of mounting location and take the necessary tool.
  2. First, make the frame to which the fabric of the future chair will be attached. It is more convenient and easiest to use a hoop for this. This inexpensive and simple frame can be bought at the store.
  3. Tighten the hoop with a cloth so that it sags a little, but is not stretched (for ease of use).
  4. Sew the edges around the entire perimeter with thick threads. Sew a strip of tape over the top to hide coarse stitches and protruding fabric.
  5. Now attach 4 tight ribbons or ropes to the product. Mentally divide the circle into 4 equal parts and sew at these points.
  6. Sew the ropes on top or tie a strong knot.

IMPORTANT! The fabric for the seat must be very dense so that it can support the weight of a person. The hoop must be selected from durable steel.

Materials and tools

A set of tools for manufacturing does not include special devices. Everything is very simple, you will need:

  • Very dense fabric, such as denim or cotton.
  • Stainless steel hoop.
  • 4 ropes or bands for the suspension system.
  • Scissors, a set of threads and needles. For speed, you can stitch everything on a sewing machine.

The process of manufacturing a frameless hammock

Another option is to manufacture a structure without a frame. The simplest and easiest way to execute.

  1. You will need fabric, one wooden beam (metal is more difficult to work with and you need to have a special tool).
  2. Choose the sizes according to your preferences and dimensions of the room.
  3. Bend the fabric several times and sew it on a typewriter.
  4. Make holes for the ropes around the edges.
  5. Pass the rope through the holes in the chair and the specially prepared holes in the wooden beam.
  6. Secure the assembly with knots.
  7. Now pick a place where you hang your work. To do this, you need some kind of hook or a solid tree branch in the yard. Tie the ends of the ropes with a knot so that you get a crosshair and hang.

Everything is ready, fast and comfortable. A simple way to decorate the interior and delight loved ones.

We immediately warn that this option is far from the simplest and will require some effort and time. But then its appearance will harmoniously fit into the environment. Such hammocks will make your patio royal and add a twist. The frame must be strong, as well as the seat itself. Beautiful patterned and figured weaving will decorate the chair and make it unique.

What is needed for a frame hanging chair

Since we are dealing with a frame type, we will need the appropriate materials and tools:

  1. Two hoops of different diameters. The smaller will go to the base, and the larger to the top.
  2. Strong cord for weaving the chair itself.
  3. Two fixing pipes.
  4. Handy materials that are used in the work process: scissors, threads, glue, measuring tape, etc.
  5. Strong tapes for hanging a chair.

ATTENTION! You can use plastic pipes instead of a hoop. From them it is easy to make a circle of any diameter that you need.

In order for everything to work out, you need to master the macrame technique. If you do not know how, then it's time to learn. Step-by-step manufacturing instructions using weaving the main part of the hammock:

  1. Braid the perimeter of the hoops with a tight cord. For a more reliable fixation, it is recommended to use glue.
  2. Fasten the required number of loops throughout the frame for future weaving.
  3. Using the macrame technique, weave the base and the hoops together from one end.
  4. On the opposite edge, install 2 pipes so that the chair confidently holds its shape. You can make pipes with screws.
  5. Continue weaving, connecting the edges of the hoop.
  6. In order to get a real hammock, it remains only to hang it on a rope.
